Firefox updated to 45.0.1 this morning. All favicons (except Kindle) disappeared. How do I restore them? Thanks!

Chosen solution

The favicons should not disappear when Firefox is updated. So I do not know why that happened.

They should come back after you visit the sites concerned. There is an addon that should help with this

Recently I was told this addon may work better

The addon Favicon Reloader is not available anymore.

Favicon Reloader is again available and reviewed as working ¬J99

So now there's no way in Firefox to refresh your bookmarks favicons, I have verified it using Firefox 46 and synchronizing my bookmarks: no favicons restored.

How can we refresh our bookmarks favicons now?

Since this is a feature that brings immediate Firefox benefits (from a functional and visual point of view - its' important), can expert supporters suggest a way to propose the "Bookmarks favicons refresh" as an embedded Firefox feature?

Thanks in advance.

In the meantime, if you still want it, I have the files & it works fine if you just put the addon's folder into your profile folder under Appdata (in Windows), in the "Extensions" folder.

This should be C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*profilename*\extensions

I'm not very interested in a local fix that only affects only my personal browser! What about the browsers of everyone else who visits my websites using Firefox? I expect Mozilla to fix this problem for all Firefox users -- in their very next update -- and sooner rather than later.

I also have this problem -and- had to drop down to version 43.0.3 before I could see my favicons. Mine, on my WebSite. And a few of the others but mainly mine. The later versions just do not show my favicon.

August 28th, 2016 - Firefox version 48 and still no "favicons". Is this going to be fixed??

Favicons should not disappear,or disappear on upgrading. One known issue discussed in this thread is the problem of the favicons not being Synced which is a longstanding issue not likely to be fixed in the immediate future.

If for some reason you are crashing non upgrade and the tabs getting restored from sessionstore files I am not certain whether that could cause a loss of favicons.

You are probably best to post your own question because maybe something is wrong on your install of Firefox. Please use /questions/new try to follow the prompts to provide information, then postback in this thread to confirm you opened new question. Thanks.

Try not to use an old version of Firefox that is not safe on the internet. Fixes get made then announced, and bad guys then attack those still on old versions.
