With FF set as my default web browser on 4 Mac computers, none of them will load a link from an email or the homepage without once again clicking on the link in the email or clicking on the home page icon within FF. All that happens in an empty page opens.

This was not an issue with the previous version of FF.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: 3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Make sure that Firefox is set correctly as the default browser.

I attempted these steps with no change to the issue.

The one thing I have noticed is that FF needs to be open for the links in emails to open the corresponding web page.

If FF is not open when the link is clicked, it will open FF to a blank tab. Once FF is open and I return to the email to access the link and click it, FF will open a second tab and load the corresponding web page from the email link.

I am now using 43.0.4 and my issues went away. So it has something to do with changes made to 44.0.2.
