Firefox crashes - Windows 7 - Any version higher then 39
Hi.
I am in windows 7 , 64-bit. Any version of Firefox which is higher then 39 - crashes.
Note - (I don't know if relevant) it's a work PC behind a corporate firewall, anti-virus and Web-Sense (which are not conrolled by me)
So I can't upgrade. I had to un-install Firefox after upgrade, re-install 39, and disable automatic upgrade.
I have tried also the Portable app of - in latest Firefox version (42) - and it crashes too.

FYI - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1190437 Recent Websense update is causing crashes on startup.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1190437#c5 A report has been filed with WebSense, so it is up to them to come up with a fix for their software.
(Please don't comment in that Bug report unless you can provide a patch to fix the problem.) https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/page.cgi?id=etiquette.html
Might be a good idea to contact your IT staff about this issue with WebSense and Firefox because that Bug was filed on Firefox 39 - it's a few months old already.

Please provide the Crash Report ID#'s.
- Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
- Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.
Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.
(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

How can I go to the "about:crashes" - in latest Firefox (42) - when it crashes all the time?
I can't launch it (the newest Firefox) - to enter 'about:crashes' in the address bar. :( I only get the "Crash report" window.
Now I'm still with an older version - Firefox 39. And when I put "about:crashes" in it - I see:
No crash reports have been submitted.
BTW - a the crash happened also with "-safe-mode".

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
When do the crashes happen? What were you and Firefox doing at the time?
Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?
And if Firefox still crashes when starting in the Firefox SafeMode, see this section - If you can't open Firefox because it crashes at startup even in Safe Mode:

I have started my PC in Safe Mode. And... It works. Firefox 42 - is up normally!
I wan to keep my currently working Firefox - version 39.
So I'm using Portable Firefox - version 42 - which crashed too (and works in Windows safe mode).
Reminder - this is my PC at work. It is Win 7 - 64 bit.
It's behind the company's corporate firewall,
uses 'WebSense' and also - Trend Micro OfficeScan (I'm not admin ... so I'm not ruling these components :( ).

I have solved it by asking IT admins to update WebSense for me.

Surprisingly - the IT admins already knew about it this issue with WebSense.
They updated the WebSense client on my PC, and now - after restart - I upgraded Firefox successfully.
Now I have latest Firefox (42) - that doesn't crash!
:) :) :)
They plan to update all PCs clients soon.
