Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
I *ALREADY* SAID THAT IT *STILL* DOES IT IN SAFE MODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What Anti-Virus security software do you have?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
- Download the Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
- Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
- (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.
If you keep having problems then create a new profile.

I have the same problem, when I download some video file obtained through an extension of video download as "Video DownloadHelper", "Flash and Video Download" and "FlashGot" the option to pause the download is disabled and grayed out. I tried using new Firefox profiles with only one of the above extensions installed on each occasion and the same happens. But using a previous version of Firefox 10 ESR with the same extensions installed and with the same extension version, this problem does not happen. So it's not a extensions or profile problem, but this version of Firefox.

It is not a problem of extensions, themes or profile, but the problem is with firefox from version 26 and held until today, because I've been trying different versions and found that version 25 is the last that works pause a download generated by an extension.

I found that the same hapens when i drag and drop a link of a file into the downloads icon, have the 'Pause' contextual menu disabled. I'm a newbie and do not understand about bugs, but I found in these links: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1059343 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1163424 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=847863 the same problem is described, that starting from version 26 was a change in how downloads work. Then someone who understands this could tell me if this is going to be solved or if i have to change some settings to work, or the creators of entensions have to fix it.
