Hi

I downgraded from win 10 back down to win 8 (not 8.1) and everything was fine untill yesterday when my laptop completely froze... I forced shutdown with tab open and signed into one website... when the laptop restarted I opened firefox and went to the website so I could log out properly and my passwords had gone from firefox, the sign in ID was there but the passwords missing... I did try to google and that came up as connection untrusted, issuer unkown or something similar.. I have deleted the cert8 in profile numerous times and nothing changes regarding google and ebay showing up as connection untrusted.

Do I change ALL my passwords as I have no idea how or where they went to? if so that is going to me quite a task and take me quite some time which I would prefer not to be doing.. where did the passwords go? I have Kaspersky internet and could not find a security certificate to delete/distrust in advanced option so at a loss..

Because I reset my lappo to factory settings I used my flash usb memory stick to install firefox 39 which worked fine.. everything worked fine until the laptop froze up.. I have had enough of the "jumping through this hoop, that hoop and every other hoop" with windows 10 and really don't want this with firefox if possible.. I prefer to use firefox over google any day of the week hence why I am here asking if anyone has any ideas? I have read the thread where something similar happened and no joy.

I am getting a mac when this machine dies.. no more microsoft for me!

I am hearing two issues: one there are no passwords and two that there are some common sites that have the error "Connection is Untrusted".

For the first, your passwords are stored in the key3.db and logins.json files of the profile folder you may have backed up: Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data

Second the certs can be imported, however if you did not back up the profile folder or it is no longer listed in the Program Files menu they just might not be there. Do you use Kaspersky, AVAST 2015, ESET, BitDefender, or Microsoft Family Security?
