Reply emails suddenly changed from separate entities to sometyhing that opens along with the original email. Email useless with this 'feature' I cant turn off.

Ok so previously I knew I had a reply because there was a new email in my inbox. Now there is no such convenience. I must look thru emails I have sent for a tiny arrow that indicates someone has replied. When I click on the email someone has replied to, the original email opens, along with the reply. I did not change this setting, and can not locate this setting.

All of this would be highly undesirable behavior from the thunderbird client, for me at least.
