This problem started a few weeks ago, after reinstalling my operating system (Windows 8) and thus a fresh install of Firefox. After adding the Pinterest Pin It button, which always worked fine for me before, I found it didn't always work as intended. The biggest problem with its functionality is that it seems to "miss", for lack of a better word, a lot of images and videos on sites, especially the big/main ones, and only shows me the thumbnails from sidebars and that sort of thing. Not 100% of the time, sometimes it finds them, but it no longer displays them right so it's hard to tell which is the image I want - they'll all look like tiny postage stamps, or some images will be mostly cut off so I only see a fragment of it, like it didn't adjust the size right for the popup display. Less important for the functionality but possibly linked, the background is an intense, flat red. Is this a graphics display issue, or am I perhaps missing a plugin of some sort?

Can you attach a screenshot?

  • Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

Whoops, I took the screenshot and thought I attached it, sorry about that. Hopefully I do a better job on this post.

I turned off hardware acceleration per your suggestion and restarted Firefox, but it doesn't appear to have changed anything.
