Firefox is running very slowly. I have reinstalled and removed the addons but nothing helps . I do not have any malware.

Firefox has effectively stopped working. When I type anything it takes about 5 seconds for each character. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the browser. I have disabled all of the addons. Nothing seems to work. This started about three days ago. I cannot understand what caused it. It just started not working. I have done a scan for Malware but there is nothing on the computer.
