Hi,

I have a simple Facebook like and counter at the bottom of my Wordpress site and it's working on all browsers except Firefox.

WordPress is up to date, so are all my plugins and there is nothing wrong with the site itself. I created the facebook like button using the developer tools directly from Facebook, and I used the iframe option to add the code to the footer of my site. I also tried the XHTML version, but it also didnt work on Firefox.

I have searched your forums, but the answer to my questions is not coming up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance, Claire http://www.emilynewfieldconsulting.com/

I see that "Like" counter in the lower-left corner of that page = the counter is at 35 right now.

Try reloading that page from the server, by-passing the cache, by using { Ctrl + F5 } while viewing that page.

Hi, Thanks for your super-fast response.

I still can't see this button I'm afraid. I even reset my Firefox application to its defaults and emptied caches.

It must be to do with my personal settings in Firefox if it is showing up for you. Are there plugins or add-ons that I should disable? Even so, this means that my readers will have to have specific settings to see this button. Is that the case?

Thanks again for your response. best, Claire

Right-click that page and open View Page Info. On the Media tab does - https://fbstatic-a.akamaihd.net/rsrc.php/v2/y1/r/LVx-xkvaJ0b.png - appear in the "Address" list?

That's what should appear where it says "Unable to connect". For some reason that doesn't look like it loaded in your screenshot.

Also, you could try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

Thanks for this the edmeister. I just tried both these things that you suggested.

The media tab doesn't show the "thumbs up" icon at all. And it's not appearing in safe mode either. Is there something that I should add to the iframe code?

I don't think you need to add anything. I think something on that computer may be blocking that image from loading.

How does it look on Safari and Chrome? Is it there or missing?

Hi,

The facebook button works perfectly on all browsers except firefox.

I'm actually developing this site for a client and she can't see the facebook button properly either (she uses firefox as her main browser). So it's not just my machine. And I have the most recent version of firefox.

I followed the step by step instructions from Facebook and got the code from their developers pages, and firefox is the only browser that shows an error... so I'm really at a loss as to what to do next. The client really wants this button to appear on all browsers equally (eventhough she only has 35 likes after 2 years!!)

Did you check the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) for errors and possibly blocked content?

What do you get if you right-click that box and open the Inspector via Inspect Element?
