Tick at end of subject

Some of my emails have started to display a tick at the end of the subject. The tick stays with the email even when the email is deleted. Could you tell me what it means and how to remove it.

just on the face of it, I would say both messages are scams. ✔ 
 & # 10004;
that tick was created with the code shown after it without spaces.

What I am saying it is. I think it is something being added by a spammer to draw attention to the scam mail rather than something you have done..

See the screen dump, there are two emails with this tick. I think I must have clicked on something to produce this effect when I was examining one of the many scams. I double deleted all of the ticked emails but when these two new ones arrived, they were also ticked.
