Run the first add-on. After, install the second. Read its instructions on it's web page. #2 is very useful.

Mozilla Search Reset

Download the Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.

Add to Search Bar {web link} Make any pages' search functionality available in the Search Bar

Hello, maybe you have corrupt "search.json" file.

Try the following :

  1. Exit Firefox and go to your Firefox profile folder.
  2. Delete (or rename, for example, search.jsonOLD) the file "search.json".
  3. Re-start Firefox to see if it solves the issue.
