FF now freezes almost every time I click a button on any website -- it worked fine until about 3 months ago. This usually resolves itself without any warnings, but sometimes get unresponsive script or plug-in (flash) warning. But it's usually quicker just to re-start FF, which usually helps. Almost every morning I get on the computer, I have an unresponsive script warning (this is usually chrome://global/content/bonding/browser). I've read forum articles, shut off hardware accelerator, use ad, script, flash blockers. However, some of my add-ons won't load -- the ones that need FF to be re-loaded. I've done this repeatedly and ad blocker, etc. won't load -- they worked before I reset FF, which I tried because nothing else was solving my freezing problem. I followed a thread to get add-ons to load and I deleted files in my profile but this didn't solve that problem (though No SCript loaded when I restarted my COMPUTER -- the others did not). Lastly, that thread was closed because the asker's problem was solved, while mine, the SAME problem, was not. This is my troubleshooting information:

It's not crashing, i.e., closing unexpectedly. It's freezing, foetn, usually for a few minutes or less but sometimes longer. I usually re-start it after 5 ,minutes if it hasn't unfrozen by then. I've read many forum Q&A on this and it sounds like a lot of people started having this problem after one of the recent upgrades.

I turned off the accelrator months ago. That was the first thing I did. It helped some. The problem is getting progressively worse, so it seems like every upgrade in the past 3-4 months is causing the problem.

Already done, a few weeks ago. I'be followed all the advise I can find in the forums. But I appreciate your time and effort.

While you were in save mode, was there any problem? If you have not done so yet, please do so now. Browse around some save web sites and lets us know how you do.

and time will tell, but I obviously can't use FF in safe mode all the time. Further, there are 1000 topics (literally) related to FF freezing, many of which mention FF27, which is where my problems began. I replied to one of these topics and was told it was closed because apparently the guy who asked the question had HIS problem solved -- meanwhile, there are hundreds us of us out with the same problem -- which looks like FF 27. many mention the chrome://global/content script freezing. Since this is such a common problem, why don't you dump the script? It appears that the product is flawed and you want everyone to work around this, which doesn't make any sense to me. I appreciate the help, but I don't think the help system works well. I search for my own name and was given one thread -- the one that was closed and THIS one, which I started didn't come up in my search!

Nice, the begining of my reply was cut off!!! I wrote: In the few minutes I've been using FF in safe mode, it hasn't frozen ...

Try this; go to the add-ons manager and disable everything! Extensions and plugins.

I can do that but I was running NO add-ons when the problem began 3 months with the FF 27 upgrade. I started to install add-ons to restrict what was loading on pages , to increase load speed, which at least one add-on claimed it would do. Even now, with no add-ons, FF is freezing for a few seconds -- which is MUCH better than before. Some add-ons -- I only had 3 at once, I think -- may be part of the problem, but it began with an upgrade before I had any add-ons. The other problem I had -- to which no one reponbded -- is that some add-ons won't install. These are ones that require an FF re-start. I deleted files in my profile, etc. with no success. No Script loaded upon re-starting my COMPUTER, but none from restarting FF. I'm only opneing 15-25 windows and no tabs. Had no problems with FF before 27.

more options

Got on the computer this morning to find the usual unresponsive script -- and also an unresponsive plug-in -- while running no add-ons. Also, since while in safe mode, FF freezses for a few secondsm unfreezses for a few, freezses for a few, etc., taking 30 seconds to load a single page that has no photos ot video or ads.

more options

Does it say the name of the script?

more options

If you are using blockers for adds and such, those you can leave on.

more options

It's usually but not always the chrome://global/content/binding/browser script -- that I've seen other people complain about -- but not always. flash plug-in freezes a lot but the warning responds to a click; before I shut off add-ons, this warning would not respond immediately to stop the frozen script -- why isn't there an option to stop any script when it freezes -- always? a page will not not load without freezing at least once for sveral seconds and I have no add-ons per your directive.

more options

Open a new window or tab. In the address bar, type about:config. If a warning screen comes up, press the Be Careful button. This is where Firefox finds information it needs to run. At the top of the screen is a search bar. Enter dom.max_

Once the list is presented, look for these, and tell me what they are set to;

dom.max_script_run_time dom.max_chrome_script_run_time

more options

script is 10; chrome is 20; usually FF freezes without any warning coming up, especially now, with no add-ons, and then unfreezes by itself, though occasionally I get the script warning. With the add-ons, I don't if FF would have unfrozen by itself or would have eventually given me a script warning

more options

FYI, even posting the above reply took 10 seconds, then another 6 for the page to filly load

more options

I'm going to try and get some help.
