Can I avoid closing emails one by one on exiting Thunderbird?

When I open Thunderbird, any emails I had open on my last visit are still open. Is there a setting I can change so that all open documents are automatically closed on exiting the program, rather than to have to manually close them one by one?

right click the tab and select the close all other tabs option.
