Referring to: Stop FF from disabling my addons after upgrading.
Is there truly no way to stop this behavior for advanced users? Having ACR installed does not stop Firefox from disabling the extensions before it restarts the browser. This resets all of my status bar and toolbar configurations when it disables one addon in particular.
In addition Firefox often detects addons as incomatable that are not, even when creating a new profile with the SAME VERSION.
The inconvenience of reconfiguring all of my installed profiles prevents me from updating regularly, which leaves me vulnerable to security risks.
I am going to try using FEBE to restore my profiles, intact, after upgrading from now on, unless anyone has an easier fix.

I see that you are on Firefox 9. In Firefox 10 (Firefox 11 is out now) we made a change that defaults add-ons (non-binary add-ons) to compatible. You can see a list of compatible add-ons here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/compatibility/11.0

THANK YOU! That's a better answer than I could have ever hoped for.
The binary list seemed short and 2 of my addons were on it, however they are very well maintained and compatible as of now. Firefox will leave them alone? (No biggy if not.)
AS for Toolbar Buttons, I KNOW it's not up to date with the latest versions but, since it's not binary, it sounds like you're telling me Firefox 10+ will leave it alone? This is the important one.
Yep it should work. If you're talking about this addon - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/toolbar-buttons/ I just tested it with Firefox 12 and it seems to work just fine.
Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Some security software has virtualization features that can cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox profile folder.
It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to do a compatibility check or see if there is a compatibility update available.
The new update method worked! I have Firefox 11 now, and none of my extensions were disabled. Incidentally, I have no incompatible extensions anymore, so I guess it's not fully tested. Oh well.
I have 4 profiles and it did detect the DivX Html 5 global extension as incompatible in the first profile. But afterward, Firefox Addon window says it's compatible. My other 3 profiles did not produce this result when first booted.
My other global extensions worked fine.
This is no big deal. Just reporting it.
To answer the comment about the antvirus: I keep a tight leash on my Avast. It did not screw with Firefox at all.
