when trying to start firefox it flashes on the screen and disappers when I go to task manager it is not running have deleated and downloaded same result. This happened after updating java.

Hey rsmccown,
Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? Hold down "shift" while Firefox is starting up. If the crash doesn't happen in Safe Mode, you should read Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems.
There is also a lot of useful stuff in the Firefox won't start Knowledge Base article. If you've recently upgraded, you might want to check out this article as well.

Thanks Matt I tried the Safe Mode and have the same result, quick flicker, gone not running in the background.
