My screen goes blank (gray), the tabs and menus stay. When I refresh (f5) the screen returns but goes blank again after a few seconds if I just read it and do not click on a link. How can I get it to stay on the screen that I am reading.

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?

Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."
