I'm trying to log on to Canada Life. They tell me that I have to use Google Chrome (preferred) but they also include Mozilla Firefox which is what I thought I'm using to get this support.? What gives?

They're apparently only considering some number of versions as "recent".
Are you able to upgrade your macOS to any further version, to be able to receive newer updates and stop getting these error messages?
If not, the add-on linked in previous posts might suffice — you just need to mask your identity to look like coming from a more modern system. Hope this helps to unblock you!
