firefox says mic is enabled but it won't work

Hi, My mic will not connect to anything with firefox. when on the individual web pages it says mic is allowed but the websites won't detect any microphone. i've tested this with discord and a handful of voice/pitch training websites, the results are always the same. it says the mic is allowed but the website won't pick it up i've tried clearing my cache and the other recommendations i could find online like allowing autoplay, it still isn't working. i am on a mac using an external microphone and i've already made sure firefox has all mic permissions and that the mic works by testing it in the apple mic test thing as well as with other applications. this problem only comes up with firefox. i also disabled any privacy/security addons (i have ghostery, privacy badger and ublock origin, all currently disabled) this is very frustrating and i truely don't know what to do about it, any advice would be greatly appricated
