Cannot import .csv password file from FF 80 into FF 81
Yesterday we were forced to reinstall Ubuntu Linux. Was using 16.04 which had many problems. installed 20.04.1 in the same partition. It upgraded Firefox from version 80 to 81. Changed nothing else.
We had previously saved the passwords as a .csv file on an external drive. Each row had only three items: the URL, login name, and password. We have TWO different .csv files saved months apart.
After enabling "Import from a file" in Lockwise, we try to load either known-good .csv file. There is no error message and no other information--the browser window blinks and the login/password column remains totally empty. Also tried the .json file--same result.
What is going on here?

You can export the logins in Firefox 81 to a CSV file and compare this CSV file with the CSV file you got from Firefox 80.
I did that--it saved an EMPTY FILE. Nothing in it. Meanwhile the file I'm TRYING to import still doesn't work.
Lockwise appears to have a major bug.
Do you currently have logins stored in the Password Manager because you can only export logins if you at least have one login stored ?
I tried putting in a couple of logins. It saved that file perfectly. But it WILL NOT import any password file. Not even the new one I just created.
Yes I disabled private browsing. Yes I tried various other privacy settings. Yes I set "signon.management.page.fileImport.enabled" to TRUE.
No effect.
You have a serious problem here.
Try the Firefox version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.
not until I can figure out how to export bookmarks. Some of them have been changed.
The help files for this FF 81 apply to FF version 80. There is NO bookmark export or import function that I can find.
(later) finally found it. So went to update FF from the repository and got "firefox is already the newest version (81.0+build2-0ubuntu0.20.04.1)."
