Integrate Thunderbird calendar with Gmail Calendar

I am trying to integrate the Thunderbird calendar with my main calendar, which is Google's calendar on Chrome. (I'm using a MacPro Catalina version 10.15.4.) I basically want to enter calendar events in Thunderbird and have them automatically show up in my Google calendar, and vice versa. Seamlessly.

The documentation said I would need to download Provider and Lightning as Add-ons. However, the add-ons don't work with my version of Thunderbird. (version 78.1.0.)

Am I out of luck?

I've installed the AddOn but it's still not clear how to sync the calendars together. I found a help page but it was for Lightning and it didnt seem to work...

The TbSync settings are under the Tools menu on the Mail Toolbar, which is enabled under AppMenu, Customize.
