Firefox Establishing Connections on boot
Hello, firefox is set to open a blank page All prefetching is disabled I do however use the password manager w/ a master password On launch firefox is connecting to 23.223.52.72:20480 akamaitechnologies.com and 5 other IPs When I look into akamaitechnologies.com it's a data collection company and I found some tutorials to block them on Linux but not for windows... It's not always connecting from the same IP but whenever firefox is opened it reaches akamaitechnologies, it also reaches verizon and several other "big data" companies. This is while FF is open on a blank page I have all the same plugins except no-script in chrome, yet chrome only contacts google on launch.

Firefox uses a local connection via TCP ports to communicate with the software security device used for secure connection.
So why does it require those 4 "big data" companies? Why doesn't it host the files themselves? Also the password manager had not opened yet, it only opens after you visit a site requiring login
Regarding the connections Firefox may make and why, please see the article cor-el referenced: How to stop Firefox from making automatic connections.
Akamai is a content distribution network service that helps position content closer to users around the world to improve performance; many, many companies use them, so you need to look at the host name on the request to associate it with a particular feature or function.
If you want to learn more about Mozilla's network operations related to its sites (for example, related to add-ons), there probably are some wikis and mailing lists related to that. It is beyond the scope of this forum.
