every time i restart firefox browser, i have to recheck in options, to remember my passwords. i have a pretty secure PC and i want it to remember the passwords for my site (which it does), but frustratingly switches this off everytime the computer or firefox restarts.

This is possibly a problem with the RoboForm Password Manager extension in case you use this Password Manager.

The behavior described by you is by design in Chrome and Firefox.
A user can disable RoboForm extension to enable the built-in password manager in the browser.
The user is intended to use either at a time, not both.
