The last release of Firefox to work properly with Mac OS X 10.6.8 is 28. From 29 on, there are issues with CPU, inability to shut down following certain operations, sporadic hangs and problems with the Save Page As function. All the above stated problems persist even if Firefox is reset or started in Safe Mode with all plug-ins inactive.

Is Firefox 31 certified to run with OS X 10.6 or is 28 the last supported release?

Hello UhClem2k, 10.6 Mac can install and use, without problem, the latest stable version 32.0.3 now 25 sept. 2014, see : Firefox 32.0.3 System Requirements

Can you check your issue in a new profile ?

I reported one specific problem I've been experiencing (among the many) on the bugzilla.mozilla.org site (Bug report #1061950). As I stated there (and partly here), the problems persist with any Firefox release beyond 28, despite having followed all the suggested troubleshooting methods --- including creating a new profile or deleting *ALL* Firefox/Mozilla items from my System, Library and Users folders and starting with a clean install of the latest Firefox release. The problems do not exist with release 28 (nor with the latest releases of Chrome, Safari, Opera, Opera Next or OmniWeb).
