Bookmarks Are Missing

I'm running Windows 10 and latest version of Firefox.

Yesterday none of the bookmarks I had would work including the toolbar. I would click of them and nothing happened. Today ALL bookmarks are gone. The Bookmark toolbar is not there.

Please read Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer.

I have restored them and they're working fine (for now). But this does not explain why they were gone today, nor why they would not work (even though they were there) yesterday.
