I recently read Mozilla CEO Laura Chambers' blog post titled "Improving Online Advertising Through Product and Infrastructure" dated October 3, 2024. I understand that Mozilla is introducing new advertising solutions within products like Firefox and Fakespot, focusing on privacy-preserving techniques and partnerships with Anonym.

While I appreciate Mozilla's commitment to user privacy and innovation in the advertising space, I prefer not to participate in any form of advertising integration within my browser or other Mozilla products.

Does the community have a voice or choice in the matter? Could anyone guide me on how to opt out of these new advertising features or disable them entirely? Or is my only option moving to another browser? I value the control over my online experience and would greatly appreciate any assistance or recommendations the community can provide.

Good morning,

We are seeing that the key "DisableAppUpdate" being set to TRUE in about:policies. Not sure why this setting is being set. The result of the setting is "Updates disabled by your organization". So we cannot manually update firefox and are not sure why the setting is being set.

We used Procmon to capture logs:

Line 5169544: "2:29:45.2062951 AM","firefox.exe","1720","RegEnumValue","HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox","SUCCESS","Index: 0, Name: DisableAppUpdate, Type: REG_DWORD, Length: 4, Data: 1" Line 5169546: "2:29:45.2063211 AM","firefox.exe","1720","RegEnumValue","HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox","SUCCESS","Index: 0, Name: DisableAppUpdate, Type: REG_DWORD, Length: 4, Data: 1" Line 5169547: "2:29:45.2063338 AM","firefox.exe","1720","RegQueryValue","HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\DisableAppUpdate","SUCCESS","Type: REG_DWORD, Length: 4, Data: 1" Line 5169548: "2:29:45.2063563 AM","firefox.exe","1720","RegQueryValue","HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\DisableAppUpdate","SUCCESS","Type: REG_DWORD, Length: 4, Data: 1"

Is there anything in Firefox that can trigger the setting of this key?

When clicking on a site in Firefox for me, the text is OK just like on the registration tab - see example 1.

When a friend of mine clicks on this site, he sees the correct text, but in a split second the following text appears: Meteen na je registratie kan je ticket(s ontvang) download en je een bevestigingmail. Kinderen t.e.m. 16 jaar geleden 16 jaar geleden 16 jaar geleden. The text on the registration tab is also wrong - see example 2.

When logging in to some site, the email address is OK for me, but for certain people it goes completely wrong. In a split second they see the CORRECT email address, but everything goes wrong!!! See my example 3. For the Outlook account Firefox does NOT put @ but a - (minus sign) and for a Gmail account Firefox does NOT put @ but a . (period) and the name of that account is far from correct!!! This should be guido, and what does it say: guiduidobo???

Note: BOTH login details are CORRECTLY displayed in the saved WW. Already removed all caches etc. - started without extensions etc... but this problem persists for those involved! We all work with Windows 10 and Firefox is fully up to date. There is seriously something wrong in Firefox, know that for these 3 points everything is OK in Google Chrome - Edge! Please investigate this thoroughly. Thanks in advance for the necessary effort.

When trying to listen to music on Spotify I get this error: "The WidevineCdm plugin has crashed". I followed all the help section suggestions both on Spotify and Firefox, and nothing worked. I get the error message in Incognito mode, too. I did a fresh reinstall of FF and disabled all extensions. I also verified that WideVine was activated. Spotify works in Edge, so I know this is a FF issue.

Hello,

I recently switched from Google Chrome to Firefox, and I’m having trouble with how PDFs are handled. When I click on a link for a PDF, I see the PDF symbol indicating it can be opened or downloaded based on my preferences. However, I want PDFs to download directly without opening when I click a download button, similar to Chrome’s default behavior.

In Chrome, if I click a link to view a PDF, it opens in the browser. But if I click a download button, it downloads without opening. I’d like to achieve the same in Firefox: view PDFs when I click a link but download them directly when I click a download button.

Thank you for your help!

how do I actually turn off autofill addresses? I work for realtors and am constantly filling out contracts with addresses, and doing address searches for them. I have "autofill addresses" turned off under Privacy and security, but it asks me EVERY time I fill out a contract if I want to save the address. I have to say "not now" easily twenty times during my work day. Am I missing something obvious? this has only become a problem in the last couple weeks or so, but I am starting to get frustrated. thanks so much! Nicole

Hi! I move the new tab button to be on the right of the last tab, which works fine. Until I restart firefox, and then it's back on the left.

I tried removing the profiles in App data and letting Firefox create a new one and it did not solve the issue.

Thank you in advance!

Firefox users used to be able to create multiple tab rows with Tab mix plus but that has since disappeared. Then there was a script you can use to create the same effect, but since the update to version 131.0 - this has also disappeared.

Why can't this option be added to the tab settings within Firefox? I can imagine that many users would love to see this back.

PS: alternatives such as "tab trees" are not the solution. Just multiple rows!
