unable to connect POP3 server even DNS Mail record is un-proxied in Cloudflare

After switching DNS registrar to Cloudflare, Thunderbird couldn't connect to POP3 server. I set mail A record to un-proxied (DNS only), MX record points to mail.mydomain.com.

I pinged mail.mydomain.com and saw the real IP address, not a proxy IP from Cloudflare.

I used the real IP address for the POP3 server, still can't connect.

I used my web hosting company's server name, which has exactly the same IP address as mail.mydomain.com, everything becomes fine.

Anyone has had the same issue? Thanks.

I think I found the problem: my SSL covers mydomain.com and www.mydomain.com but not mail.mydomain.com. mail.mydomain.com is unable to handle SSL connection
