Somehow, I think a passkey or passcode has been created on my laptop
I have no other devices to "sync" to. This may or may not be why my "passwords" in Firefox have been locked down as I can not now log into my hotmail.com account. Passwords are visible in Firefox except for the passkey which I can't seem to delete. I need to either see it or delete it. Also, it won't do any good to send a response to the e-mail linked to Mozilla. I had to create a new temporary account to try to get MS to restore my hotmail.com account. The storing of Passwords by Firefox is not helpful to me & I do not want it & need to turn it off. Thanks for help in this multilayered mess of software I'm using.

Hi, you can turn off the password manager on the Settings page. See: Password Manager - Remember, delete and edit logins and passwords in Firefox - "Disable the Firefox password management feature" section.
Expanding upon the earlier reply, Passkeys are a little tricky. They're not stored in Firefox. They are stored on the device you created them on. A lot of sites/apps push Passkeys hard as the preferred method of authentication. However, although they are more secure in many ways, it's easy to get into a hole with them. Not all devices play well with others (I'm currently trying to figure out how to use a passkey I created for my wife on my Windows laptop under Firefox on her Windows laptop using Firefox).
