ADMINS ARCHIVING YOUNG THREADS
Hi,
I absolutely hate browsing forums for solutions to my problems.
I hate being forced to search FAQ's for questions that nobody asks frequently enough before being able to post something. I appreciate this is necessary to limit multiple threads about the same topic, but it's not the perfect solution.
It doesn't help if the admins of this forum fob off questions with an arrogant answer and close the thread.
I'm looking at you @dropa. Please chill. These people need to talk to each other. Don't just shove potatoes in their mouths send them packing.
I'm not trying to be abrasive, but I've seen this on other forums, it looks like bullying, and it is frustrating and, frankly, it's mean.
Thanks.

You included a screenshot of a Firefox Support question that was asked on 9/29/22: /questions/1391202 pop up window error with updated version
For the record, questions created over 180 days (six months) in the past are archived automatically, not by admin or forum moderators.
Are you having a problem with Firefox that you need help fixing? If so, please describe your Firefox issue. Please also see Mozilla Support rules and guidelines.

Dropa is most certainly not an Admin or Moderator here. He just replies to a lot of questions quickly focusing more on quantity (and not quality) in his replies.
Any account that is in Administrator group will have Administrator Moderator by their names in replies while those in Moderator group will have Moderator by their names like in case of Alice above and mine.
As said the thread was old enough to get auto archived.

So is it more about some total at the end which takes pride in how many threads are archived as opposed to how many issues are resolved? I vote 3y for automatic thread-archiving. 180d is unreasonable imo.
Keep in mind that Firefox updates usually come with a lot of changes including where to find items in Settings (formerly Options/Preferences) that make solutions offered years ago no longer work what causes confusion.
unfortunately, it is on longer possible to sort search results by time created/updated but are sorted by relevance (score), what makes it harder to find recent threads.

Of course it's possible. It's simple programming. That was a decision a human being made to remove it, probably to make some number go up so that it looks good.
Of course is this technically possible, but they have chosen not to implement and expose a Sort feature (sortby parameter) when they moved some years ago to a new search implementation (ES6 -> ES7). As a workaround you can use advanced search and limit the time range to a few weeks or months.
"This thread was archived. Please ask a new question if you need help." ??!!! Thread corresponds to the error message. It does not appear only in the cases described in thread. But admins archive the thread anyway, thus prohibiting adding additional solutions to the problem that are caused by other problems. The search engine directs the user to the archived page, and thus the user is stumped. And even volunteers adding solutions to the problem cannot help in such a hard system.
I keep hitting my head against archived threads! For the love of mike, please cut it out!!
I'm honestly not surprised this forum and moderators get abused. The moderators have god complexes and whenever I submit here, I am filled with anxiety that some snob is going to fob me off and archive my thread.
Hi
This thread is not due to be archived until six months after it was first started.
And therein lies the problem.
Cheers.
Thank you for your feedback.
