Authentication downgrade it seems
Hi using 153esr and Win11
I have my emails on an encrypted drive. Until now if I closed Thunderbird I would have to enter my Master/Primary password before and emails would show, i.e they were protected from casual view.
Now if I type [cancel] at the request for a password, twice in a row than all my emails are visible.
I though it may be this new thing where the [close] icon functions differently, but even if I close via the menu File > Exit it seems Thunderbird still has access to my emails without authorisation.
Any ideas would be useful

Did you have mail.password_protect_local_cache set to true? (not well known)

The short answer is, your assumptions are wrong. Learn what the Primary Password does and what it doesn't protect. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/protect-your-thunderbird-passwords-primary-password

Yes it was not so much an assumption but a decade of use, so I didn't expect a change.

Did you in fact previously have mail.password_protect_local_cache set to true?
No it was set to fale.
Now set to true it will not load emails from my other Drive without me entering the password, which it what I am used to,
