search local drive before the internet
While I enjoy the capability of selecting a search engine as I see fit, I would prefer that my local drives take precedence. Is there an easy way to enable this for everyday casual use? In other words, can I specify "search local drives first, followed by the web i.e. casting a wider net to search on the world wide web, and an arbitrary third placeholder such as foreign sources (example only) or foreign news items (again, fictitious example)

How do you currently search for files on your computer? Maybe an add-on can tap into that local capability using a native application, but Firefox definitely does not have a built-in feature to do it.

Firefox doesn't have access to the Windows system search index, so I think you would need to use Windows File Explorer to do the local search.
Thank you, but I am not on a Windows machine so I never bother with the their search results. Forget about windows for a moment. I have the files on my local drive, but I want to be sure that I am missing a few.more, say pdf files. I would like the search engine to list the files from the local drive first, then the online results second.
