Using netadress on Thunderbird. No matter who I address an outgoing mail to, the sent file shows it was sent to another person's email. That name is the same every time. When I sent a test email to that other person's email and any other emails, the outgoing server times out. This does not happen when I send an email to the same address on Apple mail.

my guess is you have that name associated with a mailing list address in Thunderbird. As Thunderbird uses the address book to generate the display name shown in lists through preference, I have been seeing issues here for about 15 years with folk saving mailing list addresses as people in their address book.
