Firefox on iOS (on iPhone 12 mini) drains battery fast

I’ve been using Firefox on iOS for a while now (more than 2 years), amd in the past ~2 months I noticed that whenever Firefox is open, battery usage goes way up, even if it’s only open in the background. The phone physically heats up, and in the Battery settings it’s visible that Firefox is using way more energy than anything else.

First I thought it’s connected to the number of open tabs, but even with only one tab open, the problem exist. Background app refresh has been turned off, hoping it helps (it doesn’t). Firefox sync is on.

I’m using an iPhone 12 mini, with always the latest iOS (now 16.5.1 c), and the latest Firefox version (now 115.1).

Fun fact: the problem doesn’t seem to exist on my iPad.
