When I leave Firefox to go to another app then come back, a new tab keeps opening instead of taking me back to the tab I was on. How can I stop it?

I use tab groups actively and would save much of my work in my ever-growing list of tab groups. I saw today that many of them had disappeared. I wasn't signed into Firefox and nor do I have any different profiles made. I see two tab groups that I made yesterday but none from before that. How could this happen? How do I recover so much of the work I had saved up?

iPad iOS 26 Firefox Focus (FFF) and Magic Keyboard (MK) — Cannot use search field after upgrading to iOS 26 — need to disconnect iPad from MK, then use on-screen keyboard, then reconnect MK and then can type with MK — that is more likely an iOS 26 bug, but it is effecting both FFF and regular iPad Firefox.
