In previous version, I would copy and paste to mailing list that was in edit mode (which showed recent entries) The edit option seemed to disappear. please advise.

I figured this out by accident. Select the existing contact group you want to edit or add to. Right click the group name and select Properties. You should be able to edit and add contacts as you did before. Hope this helps!
