I have BING selected as "Default" search engine, yet no matter what I do I keep getting results for DuckDuckGo; How do I fix it in version 57.0 (64-bit)???

Bing has been selected and is the only active search engine in Firefox (or at least that is what it says) and no matter what options I change or try in Firefox...I get DuckDuckGo....I even tried changing the default to Google

I know you are on 57, but most WebExtensions should work in 57 and 56. As the DuckDuckGo does not, was updated recently and the comment referred to says "Also, you don't need it to make duck duck go your default search engine...", the assumption was something may be broken if you had the add-on installed (even though there seem to be no issues for that on its GitHub page.)

Did you try clicking Restore Default Search Engines in about:preferences#search as well as removing DuckDuckGo? See Change your default search settings in Firefox for more info.

If that doesn’t help, does the same thing happen in Firefox’s Safe Mode or in another profile?

Would you happen to have the DuckDuckGo add-on installed, and it keeps overriding the other search engines and related settings?

I have not tested it, but note one of its reviews dated Nov 18. Also, the add-on appears to be not compatible with Firefox 56, but only for 57 and up, so they may need to fix something. If you don’t need it, uninstall or disable it temporarily until the issue is fixed.

So still needing a resolution please

Restoring the default appears to have "corrected / fixed" the issue.

Thanks

Note that extensions like "SearchAssist Incognito" are suspect.

There are other things that need attention.

Your System Details list shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time Firefox starts. The user.js file will only be present if you or other software has created this file and normally won't be present.

You can check its content with a text editor (right-click: "Open with"; do not double-click). The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

You can delete the user.js file if you didn't create this file yourself.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
