I'm trying to follow a suggestion (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1087727#answer-791503) I got on another question I asked here, but I have a feeling it's not possible, so I'd like to ask it here too specifically.

I have an Alcatel OneTouch Fire (the first version), and it only updates up to Firefox OS 1.3. I'd like to upgrade it to newer versions if possible. The official device list (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/os/devices/) doesn't say anything about which versions of Firefox OS those devices run. Isn't that weird?

Can I build a more recent version of the OS and flash it to my device? Does it not have more recent updates because Alcatel / my carrier haven't made it available or is there a technical limitation that prevents me from running newer versions of Firefox OS on this device?
