New tab page has changed in firefox 33
Instead of 9 pinned sites shown, I now have 8 unpinned sites, and had to delete and add the correct ones and repin them. Why did this happen and why am I the only person in the entire world who is asking any questions about it?

Same here but I only have four sites showing up on my page. When I select one to move it the screen shows the rest but as soon as I stop they vanish. The how-to page about pressing the gear does nothing but hide the new tab page. Please patch this.
so now there are only two people in the entire world with this problem?
Had someone show me this add-on for a quick fix:

You can adjust the number of thumbnails shown using zoom (hold Ctrl and tap the - key a couple of times).
But some users are finding that Firefox does not remember the preferred zoom level for this page, even though it remember it for other pages. In that case, unfortunately, the only known workaround at the moment is to use an add-on such as the one suggested by codygotkilld.
You also can use a custom style rule if you already use the Stylish extension. For example, I posted one here: https://userstyles.org/styles/106326/shrink-new-tab-thumbnails
Thanks for mentioning these solutions, but it's already annoying to me that I have had to install an add-on to get the status bar back, and I just can't see why I would have to use another add-on to fix something else, particularly when the new tab page isn't even listed as having had any changes made to it in any of the release notes for build 33, other than adding more functionality to the search bar ( and does anyone really use that from the new tab page anyway?)
