I'm grateful for Thunderbird and Firefox, but the font sizes are a bit frustrating.

I compose in Verdana, but the font sizes change randomly. For example, in a three paragraph email that I just sent a few minutes ago, when I looked at it in Sent Items half way through the second paragraph the font shrunk about two points. The next paragraph grew again. The final paragraph contained some text that had shrunk. This is how the recipient received it.

Often if I have email dialogue where the previous messages are vital to the discussion, the fonts will change sizes throughout.

There are also issues about font colors changing, but I'd be significantly happier if at least the size would stay uniform.

Thanks in advance.

Which version are you using?

The composer screen has been completely re-written in TB31, so I'd suggest you try that if not already doing so.

Older versions have been plagued with font instability for years. I find the Stationery add-on helps a lot.

Thanks, Zenos. I just downloaded and ran a few tests, and it appears that they may have finally mastered the font problem. I'll see in time though.

It still happens, with T'bird 32.

I think I found a solution, thanks to the suggestions preceding. I downloaded the "Stationery" 0.8.4 add-on. In the "Stationary Options" window, I checked the first box, which says, "Use HTML source editor." So now my replies are in HTML and, so far, I have not had any switches of type size. I don't know if my using HTML matters to the recipient. Does it? Does this solution work for you?

Thanks to all who have contributed to this issue.

The fact that you were suffering from font changes means that you were already using HTML. The alternative, plain text, simply has no support for fonts and so cannot change midstream.

HTML allows you to compose messages that can look like word processor documents or like Web pages. The vast majority of email clients can display it as intended, or at least render it in a plainer form. Thunderbird can be set to create both HTML and plain text variants of your text in the same message, but so long as HTML is working for you, I suspect this is largely unnecessary.

When I downloaded the Stationery 0.8.4 add-on, it seemed to fix the font issue, but then after just one successfully sent email to test it, my Send To line refused to accept an auto address. Disabled the add-on immediately. Wonder if Mozilla is working on this issue to fix it!

This was happening on my laptop since I updated it over a month ago. I just updated my desktop pc yesterday and now the same problem is happening. Was working fine until the update. I am currently updated to version 31.4.0. I also hope Mozilla can fix this soon. I'm thinking of uninstalling this version and going with an older version that I have saved in downloads. Has anyone tried this yet?
