Hi, hoping someone could help as I am struggling to get my information back. I am using Ubuntu Cinnamon.

Thunderbird crashed last night, wouldn't work, tried safe mode. Nothing fixed it. It hung when opening up and after 30 seconds said force quit. So I was forced to reinstall. I did a manual backup but not using the inbuilt tool as I couldn't get into Thunderbird. I just copied the data from username/.thunderbird

After spending a long time uninstalling. Because it reached 78% and then crashed on uninstall. Eventually after reading various pages on the internet I managed to reinstall from the Ubuntu software manager using the latest snap version. (Which I am not sure was what was actually installed previously).

However having used thunderbird for nearly 20 years or so. I have a username/.thunderbird folder. And when I moved to this platform, I have a snap/thunderbird/common/.thunderbird folder.

I installed this new distro 2 years ago, and remember having issues getting my data into the system under Snap. But eventually got it to work somehow back then.

However since reinstalling I cannot see the last 2 years of emails, archives or data. It has launched into a 2 year old profile. I appear to have lost most of the emails from the archive folders (but kept the folders) removed all of the personal folders but then dumped all those emails into my inbox. Giving me 6500 emails that were in various personal folders. (I don't get 6500 emails in a year so don't know what has happened.) It has even changed all of the new dates to the US format, so nothing makes any sense.

I now have 2 Thunderbird profiles, over 12GB in size. And have apparently lost 2 years of my life. But reading support pages, suggests I should be okay because thunderbird doesn't delete data when you reinstall?

I have looked through various other threads which talk about pointing it at the profiles and mail boxes, however nothing works.

Any help much needed.

Hello, in Thunderbird I would like to set up my own acknowledgment of receipt for incoming mails. How can I do that?

(In the forum I only found the setting that I get a receipt.)

I'm moving to Graph from EWS and have followed the instructions at: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/microsoft-ews-graph-migration

I get through to screen that offers Graph API as an option, alongside IMAP, POP3 etc, and click on Graph API which directs me to my browser to log in to my email service (via GoDaddy). I log in successfully which takes me to the Thunderbird 'You're All Set' screen saying the account has been securely connected to Thunderbird and therefore ok to close that screen.

Back on Thunderbird it then progresses but returns with "Authentication Error - unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password".

The username and password are correct, and there aren't any other options available when editing/manually configuring the connection...so at a dead end, alas.

Any pointers much appreciated!

There used to be an option before, but now it just always pops up. It is never useful for me and constantly switching to offline mode or using some other account first is a pain. There is no button to continue manually.

How do I Charge Priority for an email in Thunderbird for Mac? That function is greyed out. What is the fix or workaround? I have version 158.0, do I need a newer version?

I just purchased a new PC. HP OmniDesk Slim model with Intel Core 13, Win 11 home version, 8 GB DDR5, 512 GB SSD. I just read a previous article, "Move Thunderbird data to a new computer." When you make the move, does it also bring your account settings with the move? And by the move, I mean copying and pasting from old PC to new PC. Or do I enter this info manually? I am moving data from old HP w/win 10 originally installed, to new HP w/win 11. I also read a previous article on forum, "An alternative method for manual transfer between Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers." This was also included in this article. "This section assumes you have a default Windows installation and will work on computers upgraded to Windows 10 from previous Windows versions." My old computer had win 10 originally installed, not upgraded, (as stated above). Any info/help you can offer will be deeply appreciated. Thanks

Have got a replacement computer, and downloaded the latest TBird (having used it with AOL) for years). Following initial set up procedure, TB detects correct settings for AOL and the "enter password" page opens from AOL succcessfully for authorisation. AOL requires 2 factor authorisation, and I use a phone code for this.

However the speed at which the code arrives from AOL has always varied quite a bit, and today it is taking almost a minute so the TB set up screen is timing out long before the code arrives. Cant go on retrying as I will get locked out of the account. No point in going for manual set up as the auto settings are correct, so the same problem is going to occur. I have three AOL e-mail addresses to set up! Is there a workaround of some sort for this - its terribly frustrating and the set up screen "connect your e-mail settings" timeout period does seem quite short if you have to wait for a 2FA phone code or e-mail code - any delay in the arrival of which is completely ouside your control . Hello everyone. From time to time, the "Attachments" button stops working. It can be clicked, but nothing happens. Occasionally, restarting the PC or the email client helps. More often, the only solution is to reinstall the entire program—which also means losing access to years' worth of emails, as I then have to wait for them to be re-downloaded from the IMAP server. What should I do? I’m using the latest versions.

I have a proper profile stored in an backup and 1 *.msf wasn´t restored on the new computer, but it is needed as soon as possible. My tries to restore it wasn´t successfull, there are no needed things to restore. The needed msf is located in the new profile, and I can´t see the item. Hi, I would like to install Thunderbird on my computer to connect it to my Wanadoo account. What are the settings: IMAP, ...? I also want to install the folder structure on another drive to avoid loading my system drive. What other things should I be careful about to avoid making mistakes or wrong settings or security ? Eventually, I would also like to add another Gmail account or another provider. Thanks in advance

TB is hanging on startup as it cannot connect to an IMAP server (Ping times out) I am chasing this separately. If I click on the TB window it grays out and I have to shut TB. I know which account is causing the problem but how can I start TB WITHOUT it trying to access servers so I can delete the problem account?? Thanks in advance. Paul N

Settings config section to "Incoming Mails," sub-section - "When new messages arrive" to: "Play a sound" buttons... "Play" and "Browse" are non-functional buttons.

Consequently, one cannot change the incoming notification sound.

BTW, the present link indicating a notification sound doesn't work, either.

I'm getting a popup error message saying "Unable to write the email to the mailbox" on one of my gmail accounts. This has happened a few times before and I'm not sure how I managed to get it working again those times, seems hit-or-miss. I've compacted and run a repair on the inbox folder several times as suggested by others. I've updated and restarted Thunderbird and even updated windows and restarted more than once.

I accidentally clicked on something at the top of the Inbox messages and suddenly everything was alphabetized. I've tried several times to figure out what happened and to get it back without bothering you, but have had no success. Now, of course, because I've tried so many things, the Inbox is really goofed up. Can you help me reset the Inbox so I don't have to go to All Mail to see my messages? I like having current messages at the top.

Hello, I recently converted a very large OLM (Legacy Outlook on Mac) to Thunderbird on my Macbook. I added an Office365 (work) Account to Thunderbird, and the Outlook Addon App for Thunderbird. I can receive emails to the Office365 account no problem, but cannot Send emails from the Thunderbird (Host) Office365 email, unless I select the Default Outgoing Server which is a different email. I have reset Passwords, related Server settings, and Account Config settings numerous times.

The only other option is to send from the Outlook Addon App ,,, this works fine, But I cannot access the Thunderbird Local Folders from the Outlook Addon.

Any assistance with this issue is truly appreciated. TD

I received a message with a password-protected attachment, and opened it in Thunderbird (in Windows 11).

I found that the password I'd been sent did not work with the attachment. I inadvertently closed the Thunderbird app with the password prompt still open.

When I tried to open Thunderbird again it tried to load the attachment and then just hangs indefinitely. Using safe mode has the same result.

Please can you suggest a solution?

I am transferring thunderbird to a new computer. I copied the Thunderbird profile from the old computer to the new computer but most of the old messages are not showing up. I uninstalled thunderbird from the new computer and reinstalled it and again copied the old profile but still the old messages are not there. How can I get them on the new computer?

Hello, I did a mistake, I installed 2 instances of Thunderbird, one pointing to the system disk and the other to the user data disk. How do I remove the instance that points to the system disk? Best regards
