The shortcut step (in quotes) following instead MOVES the message. "Copy message to another folder Hold Ctrl while dragging message to destination folder (release mouse button before releasing Ctrl). "

It worked correctly until a recent OS software update and occurs in TB 102.4.2 on my Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS on a Dell Inc. Inspiron 5559. It has not been corrected in a subsequent update.

I can send the TB Troubleshooting Info if helpful.

I use this method regularly and would like to repair the problem. I'm right clicking and copying to recent in the interim and the "recent" listing would be helpfully all my off-line folders.

It works properly on my Windows 10 installation.

I use PhraseExpress to insert an em-dash {asc 0151} for me. It works in all applications except Thunderbird.

It used to work fine until a recent Thunderbird update. Now, instead of entering the em-dash, it enters a line break followed by the em-dash and followed by an additional line break.

What can I do to restore this to the way it used to work in Thunderbird?

I've recently joined a committee which has about thirty members. They frequently e-mail eachother, and all their addresses appear on each e-mail (all too often in the 'to' box, I have to say). I've managed to shift them all into the cc box, but I would like to be able to combine them into an address book group. I've tried copying them out of the cc box, but that doesn't seem to work (because I can't select them all simultaneously). Is there a way to do this withot having to copy each address individually into a new address book group? Regards, Tim Dawson

Message filters tool freezes.

1) I click on Tools\Message Filters. 2) TB shows the Message Filters dialog. 3) I select an existing filter. 4) I click on Edit.. 5) Message Filters dialog freezes. 6) I have to End Task Thunderbird from Task Manager.

I just upgraded to the latest TB: 102.7.0. Windows 10 with all latest updates. 1316 filters (yeah, I have a lot of filters.)

The freezing of the Message Filters dialog happened in the recent previous versions of TB.

I love TB and have been using it for many years. But, I'm getting a ton of emails these days and I dearly need to setup new filters and edit existing filters. I may need to consider moving to another email software app if I can't get the Message Filters to work.

There's nothing wrong with my ISP and my emails from today are visible on the webmail as well as my phone email. It's a Thunderbird problem. I have tried the following:

1. Closing and restarting Thunderbird. 2. Restarting my computer. 3. Going to my email server and deleting most of the messages received today, including the first one in case it's jamming the download for some reason. 4. Deleted the saved password, closed Thunderbird, restarted and re-entered the password when prompted. 5. Checked the email server settings to make sure they match. 6. Changed the port number to every option shown on my email server website (but only the default number 110 results in Thunderbird saying it's trying to download messages - the other numbers resulted in nothing at all).

I'm out of ideas. Can anyone help?

Search finds emails but I cannot open them

If I search for emails I get a timeframe display and can see the first few lines. Clicking show as a list gives me a blank list. Screen grabs attached. When I click on the email to read from the timeframe view it there is nothing there (same blank as if I do a list view). The email is not there - it is a blank space. I have tried troubleshoot mode and also repaired. Still the same problems.

It is not the case that I have deleted emails... there are some vital emails there which I really want to keep... ones from a lawyer for instance. But I cannot access them. No idea how to solve this. If I can't see my emails I cannot use Thunderbird as an email client any more: being able to find your emails is essential - and not being able to access them is existential for the software.

For all its idiosyncrasies, I have come to rely on Thunderbird for my considerable e-mail needs. This involves switching fairly regularly between my Inbox, Outbox and Draft folders since only their titles are/were displayed simultaneously.

Inadvertently, I clicked on something and they have now disappeared obliging me to select Go > Folder > Local Folders before another folder's index can be selected and seen.

PLEASE, how can one rectify this? I'll be very grateful for FOOL-PROOF step-by-step instructions.

I'm still finding the way to settle in Thunderbird app on my Mac Book Pro a Copany email that is from Outlook and Office365.

Even if i found the code for the setting, when the process is finalized it is possible to send an email well received for another personal account (i try in this way) but the sent email is not yet registered in proper folder in Thunderbird

The same is for an arriving email by third personal account

My necessity is to store all the communications cause important and cause i DON'T WANT use the web with Outlook.com page open on Apple.

Thank you (after 10+ years) for finally making the font size adjustable in the folder and message pane. Also for finally fixing not easily being able to get out of numbering when forcing blank lines between numbered paragraphs.

I was actually very happy with version 60.x.x because I had a set of add-ons that working around most of the bugs and had an email client that did what I wanted. With the migration to the new add-ons internals, I lost most every behavior I needed/enjoyed.

In closing, if I can have a default white background/canvas on incoming email messages, I'll stay with T-bird. If not, I'm ready to give up on Thunderbird (after using it for 15 years) and trade it for the the boring stability of Outlook.

I know you are volunteer organization. So thank you for trying so hard for so many years.

Yesterday, all of a sudden I can't login to my Thunderbird account at sannies@mailfence.com. Error message shows, "Login to server imap.mailfence.com with username sannies failed." I tried again and got the following error message, "Cannot connect to the server. You may have exceeded the number of connections to the server" I'm not sure I understand that. I have one email account for Mailfence. However, there may be an old profile somewhere on my computer that hasn't been used since I move a year ago. What does "number of connections" to the server mean if it doesn't mean when I'm connected to the server? Nothing has changed about my username and password. I tried the suggestions on the Help site. They did not work. My security shows that Thunderbird is not blocked. Windows Firewall shows that it is not blocked. OP is Windows 10 (updated Jan 2023. Security suite is Avast One (updated Jan 2023). Server is Mailfence. I use the latest version of Thunderbird. BTW - Your "Email me when someone answers the thread" does not work when I check it.

I have been having email issues since mid October. My provider, Dreamhost, has been working on trying to fix my email issues. After many attempts to correct issues, my email provider has said my Thunderbird email app is not working properly. New profile created is not downloading all emails. When I delete a message, either by clicking delete when the message is open, or by marking several messages and hitting delete, the messages go *poof* and are never moved to trash or anything like that. So if I mistakenly delete a message, im screwed, its gone. Im using gmail, and so there seems to be a trash folder under inbox, and another trash folder under local folders, but both are always empty. The trash folder on gmail has items in it that I have deleted using the browser interface or phone app. How do I configure TBird to move deleted messages to trash, and synch that trash with the trash folder on gmail? I dont mind manually cleaning up trash every few weeks.

A month ago, I decided to give Thunderbird a try as my email client coming from MS Outlook.

I used the import functionality to import my from my Outlook installation's .pst files.

Everything seemed to work and I have been using Thunderbird for a month now.

Today however, I required to look up past sent emails. The Sent folder is there. It imported and the messages are there. Unfortunately the "From" and "To" fields have had their email addresses replaced with just the person's name. This is not consistent but is true perhaps 80% of the time.

The From field of course just has my name The sent field in most cases only has the recipient's name, though there is the rare email that does show the email address.

Is there a method to correct this?

Thunderbird version 102.7.0 is not working correctly or has wrong built in defaults. When creating a new email the (To field) does not look in the contacts file for email address starting with those entered characters to give you a choice to select from. This was standard function of older version of Thunderbird. Even after manual entering (TO field) the just entered email address is not being automatically added to the contact list like previous TB versions did. This is a real show stopper.
