Win 7/ Firefox 10.0.2/ I am having flash player problems. Almost every site tell me I need the latest to view, download here, etc. Using the FF Check your plug-ins site it tells me that the above, needs updating. I click on update, go through the motions, Adobe Reader 10.1.2 site, deselect McAfee, click yes I want to save it to downloads. I double click on the download. And I wait. Finally, I go through the whole thing again after 15-45 minutes. When I click on install it, I get a pop-up saying only a single instance of this can run. Do I have to uninstall all adobe programs from my computer to get it to update? What else does anyone suggest?

The latest version is 10.1. Please see this but it looks like the installed plugin version is 9.5. You can check via Tools (Alt + T) > Plugins and also by typing about:plugins in the location (Address) bar. If two versions of the plugin are shown, you can Disable the older version. Please note that it could be that the plugins check page is overloaded and temporarily unavailable at the moment.

Hi,

Please try this: Exit Firefox, right-click on the downloaded Reader file and Run as administrator.

Thanks, but that results in same. I have found that I do have the Adobe Reader installed. So it seems my problem is with the Firefox Plug-In Checker which tells me that the Adobe PDF Plug-in for Firefox & Netscape 9.6.0 is needing to be updated. ????

Please try deleting the pluginsreg.dat file in the Firefox Profile Folder after exiting Firefox. The file will be recreated at the next Firefox startup. You can also open the profile folder via Firefox Help (Alt + H) > Troubleshooting Information > Open Containing Folder.

Hello Vivek, I have learned I do have the latest Adobe Reader installed and that the plug-in is included in that download & install. So apparently the problem lies with the Firefox plug-in checker.

I did the ALT + H, while in FF, & deleted the file, retried update, using the Firefox Plug-in Checker w/same results.

Then I exited FF, did the Windows key + R typed in %APPDATA% & located it then deleted it, and now wouldn't you know the Plug-In Checker is not working, (We've encountered an error. Please try your request again later.)

Just gave it another shot & it's working . But still no joy, same results, showing the plug-in needs updating - being outdated version.
