When connected to Netflix I get an annoying beep every 6 to 10 minutes. Why?

I have been a member of Netflix for several years. However, in the last 2 weeks whenever I am connected to the site, to watch in-stream movies, the computer sounds a beep at intervals, while I was immersed in the plot (was because I am not anymore in it due to the beeping), as if I was talking to a jailbird. Netflix tells me they didn't change anything in my subscription. What is the problem?

I have been experiencing these beeps off and on when streaming video, but it isn't the browser, as I generally use Chrome and my phone (Dolphin). It went away for a little while, but now it's back.
