I can not open mutiple tabs -- please help

When I go to a site and I want to open another tab or tabs, to go to a different site I can not. But if I am in an email and I click on enclosed hyper links, multiple tabs will open. What can I do to fix this issue?

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
