* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

As a workaround, disable TLS v1.0.
On the Tools menu, select the Advanced section.
Under the Encryption Tab, there is an option TLS v1.0
Untick this and see if it solves the problem. I'm not sure what the knock-on effects might be of this change. IF you have problems using other secure sites you may want to re-enable this change.
Hope this helps someone
Thank you ecoten, I can now log on ,amazing.... I have not tried any other secure sites yet but just in case could you tell me what symptoms I might see? by the way What does TLSv1.0 do? sorry am a real computer dud. Thanks again and again.
Your More system details list shows that you have SSL2 enabled: security.enable_ssl2 = true
Enabling SSL2 in not recommended because of the weak ciphers it supports and exposes you to security vulnerabilities.
All SSL2 prefs should be set to false on the about:config page.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/about%3Aconfig
See this page about TLS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transport_Layer_Security
Hi Cor-el , well that is well beyond me,out into the wide black yonder...all I see in my tools-options-advanced -encryptions is SSL3 ..checked and TLS 1 ..not checked....please can you tell me which of these needs to be checked? and if I can get someone to help me on line...take over my computer can they 'do the SSL2 in'. I am reading impaired and can very easily miss read or punch the wrong thing in... I really do appreciate your help as I know no one that uses FF except 3000miles away from me. you are some 6000 miles.
