Can't open a new tab from a website link

more options

When I'm on a website and click on a link to open in a new tab, the new tab option does not show. The open a new window shows. The options should show in the order of open a new tap on top, followed by open a new window. This only happens when the link shows above two third's of the page. If the link is on the bottom third of the page the option for open a new tab shows above the open a new window. When on a web page I can't scroll down if the link is above two thirds of the page (at the top two thirds of the page). This has been happening through Firefox updates that don't correct this issue.

If I understand correctly, Firefox is positioning the menu too high, so the top item(s) are inaccessible? Normally, the upper left corner of the menu is very close to where you right-clicked, so something is wrong.

First guess: is the context menu insanely long? Occasionally some kind of corruption causes the context menu to show the items from other contexts that aren't relevant to links, and this can overflow the height of the screen. To fix that, you can try restarting Firefox in a special way:

Open the Troubleshooting Information page using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > Help > More Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar or Alt+H) Help > More Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the upper right section of the page, look for "Try clearing the startup cache" and click the "Clear startup cache..." button.

Hilfreich?
