I like to be able to type a single letter into the address bar and go to a website based on previous history. For example I type 's' and speedtest.net pops up. I'd like to type 'g' and get google like I used to. Now, instead, global.americanesxpress.com auto-populates and cannot be "removed from history". I have disabled anything with the word suggest. I've unchecked everything under Address Bar except Browsing History and nothing removes this offensive site from the url bar. So I disabled Browsing history and just type the full URL. Is there any way to remove this site or is it now a part of the browser itself?

Easiest would be to use keyword bookmarks for such websites that you may visit frequently.

What I want is to type 'g' in the address bar and have google.com auto populate like it used to. Instead the AMEX URL shown above appears first and cannot be removed from browsing history like all the other entries with 3 dots to the right. When browsing history is enabled under settings -> Search -> Address Bar, ads are inserted and cannot be removed. Today, testing, I typed in 'd' and dithodackee.com auto populated. Can't be removed, I have no idea what that site is, but the address bar functionality is limited and shouldn't have forced ads. Seriously, dithodackee.com ???? WTF.

In other words, I would like to have "Address bar autocomplete suggestions in Firefox" as defined here, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/address-bar-autocomplete-firefox without ads.
