I'm refusing to install the latest update due to the problems the last update created. Does anyone know if the problems from the last update have been fixed?
I had all kinds of problems with the forced changes to the Firefox screen in the prior update. (I have vision issues and I had everything working for me, then without any warning, I couldn't hardly even use Firefox.) After wasting a ton of time, I was able to get something working, but not as well. Now, there's a new update, and I don't want to install it unless there's a guarantee that it won't do unwanted changes, or at least give me the option to revert to my existing version if the new version doesn't work for me. Does anyone know if the problems caused in the last update have been fixed and what might be in the current update?

Which problems do you mean? Every update to Firefox includes improvements and bug fixes.
You can install Developer Edition and test future changes there without affecting your main installation.
To Paul, The last update changed all my default settings. I need black type on white background with large print in order to read text, as I have gone blind in my "good eye" and I see double in my remaining eye. The new settings had colored backgrounds and font size was changed. There had been many complaints and lots of comments and suggestions for fixes, somewhere in the Firefox help, but I can't figure out how to get back to that thread to see if anything was done to fix that last update so it didn't do that. After paging through 10s of pages of choices of how Firefox displays, when the last update happened, I found one display choice that approximated what I wanted. Besides sight problems, I also have mild cognitive impairment (Stage 1 dementia-I used to have a genius IQ), so I don't even remember how to get to those Firefox display options. It took me days to get back to being able to use Firefox comfortably. (I struggle with remembering and using the correct terminology, so I apologize for that.) Firefox may have thought what they were doing was improvements, but they didn't consider that they were NOT for some of their users. I don't mind bug fixes and security enhancements, but the default settings and user settings shouldn't be changed without a way to restore them for people with special needs.
To zeroknight, With the current state of my brain, I'm not tech savvy enough to do that. I'd like to know, from people who have installed the latest update, what's been changed before I install it. I was also hoping to find people who had had problems like I did with the previous update, who know if those unexpected problems have been fixed. I did not continue to follow the comments once I had a sort of working version, and, as I mentioned above, I don't know how to get back to that thread to see what happened. There ought to be Firefox tech people available by phone for us disabled and elderly people to get help from. The programmers don't take into account the disabled and elderly when they make changes. The same kind of thing recently happened with AOL email. Dealing with these type of problems that I am no longer able to fully comprehend, send me into a panic attack, as I'm having right now.
You can consider to switch to the Firefox 115.2.0 version. That way you do not get surprised by changes to the user interface, but still get security updates.

I just wrote a long reply to cor-el, but when I clicked on one of the links supplied, and came back here, my reply had disappeared. I'm going to try and remember what I just wrote. Thank you for finding my old thread. How did you do that? Theme was the word I couldn't remember for what Firefox looked like. The link I clicked on told me what ESR means. How do I know which number version of Firefox I have? If I switch to 115.2.0, what if I don't like how it is, ie is it going to go back to what I originally had, or to the messed up version that I had after the last update? Thanks for your help. Is the page that first link goes to where one goes to to change the version and how do I get to it again if I ever need to? If I decide I actually prefer the Theme I have now, how do I get it back without searching 36 pages again? Why isn't there a search function to make it finds a set of conditions that one wants so you don't have to waste hours searching through all the pages?
Are the built-in system theme and the light theme not sufficient for you and do you need a special theme with more contrast ?
I went to the Theme link you gave. It's been changed - a lot, since I was there before. There's only 2 pages instead of 36. I don't even see the theme I'm using which is white background everywhere with a blue and grey Firefox fox logo on the far right edge of the header. There are some filters in the themes, but nothing useful about readability for sight challenged. The writing in my header is plain black, but it is tiny, so I have trouble seeing it. I zoom to 110 or 120%, which enlarges the web pages, but not the text in the header. Ideally, I'd like the text in the header to be larger and perhaps bolded, but I have no idea if there's a way to do that. I tried searching the theme page for light theme, and 4 came up, not because they were light, but because they had light in their names. Built-in system theme search gave no results. Where do I go to see what those themes look like to see if either would work?
