removing Primary Password

I cannot remove Primary Password. When I follow directions and get to step remove check mark, the screen grays out. Also, the sign in primary password keeps showing up even though I entered my password. I see this question already being submitted but do not see a resolution.

Select to change the Primary Password. But leave the new password field blank.
