view image info gone from right-click menu in Developer v87.0b3 (64-bit)
When I right click on an image in Firefox, I've always been able to select "view image info". This is very helpful, but now it appears to be gone in latest Developer edition. Do others see the same. If so, why was it removed? It's still there in the regular version of Firefox.

If you are running Firefox 89 or later, here is how you return View Image Info to the image context menu:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste browser.menu.showViewImageInfo and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the preference to switch the value from false to true

Note that current is 87.0b7, so you are behind on updates (DE updates twice a week).

Hmm, "View Image Info". got removed as part of the Photon content menu redesign. "View Page Info" will be removed as well in 88.

What does this mean? It's been totally removed for good?
Yes, it is gone for good unless somebody would create an extension to restore this menu item (don't know if there is an API that supports this).
Why would they remove this? Did they research whether people used it?
I use this all the time to support my clients. I need it back!
This is one of the reasons I retain Firefox as my default browser, as Chrome doesn't include it.
Please bring it back ASAP or recommend a plugin. Him him him him

Hi, what were you using this feature for? For example, image URL, dimensions, etc.
Usually looking for filename, alt text, original dimensions (as opposed to display dimensions)
Hi BillTreloar, I didn't have time to write a completely new extension for this, but I added image info to one of my existing extensions if you want to try it. (Its main purpose is to convert WebP files to other formats, but let's ignore that for the moment.) When you right-click an embedded image, then click "Save webP as..." the extension displays a bar of conversion buttons, along with an "info" button. The info button provides as much information about the image as I've figured out how to provide as of today. (Due to extension restrictions on Mozilla sites, it might not work for the attached image.)
Extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/save-webp-as-png-or-jpeg/
Thanks Jscher2000. I'll check it out.
I use this all the time. It's very helpless to see if e.g. a template in a CMS resizes the image to another dimension. Or what was the original size. You can also see if images are much too big for a page. Could give other examples if needed but this was an important feature that helps quick to get informations about an image. If I go to Chrome I have to check the elements and than must find the line to see the size and the real dimensions. If I go to inspector in Firefox now I have the informations on two different places but only if I go over the image link .... pls bring this back....
Thanks for looking into this, Jscher2000. I used it for 1) seeing if images were being stretched by the browser beyond their native dimensions; and 2) the rendered filesize. This being when I was working with responsive images and verifying which version of an image was loaded.
Good morning all, this right menu option was SO REALLY HELPFULL by template development or to check if image be resized, ... Please, give us this precious tool back !!!
Hi All, there is work under way to return the built-in feature in a future update, maybe in two months. Until then, if you are still considering extensions, I posted a new one last week that you could look at:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/view-image-info-reborn/
Let me know whether it needs new/different features.
(I did get a request to show the menu item for background images. I'll try to add that in the next two weeks.)
