Several days ago, my Firefox stopped working. I would get this response: Hmm. We're having trouble finding that site. We cannot connect to the server at package.onesearch.org. I tried quitting Firefox and re-opening - with same result. I tried removing all Firefox software/icons from my Mac (Version 10.13.3) and downloading Firefox 58.0.2.dmg and followed the How To Download and install Firefox on Mac instructions, but the end result was a blank page from package.onesearch.org/ followed by a lot of characters. I did notice that the steps the download took me through differed in many ways from the How to Download instructions just mentioned above. When I try the Troubleshooting Information - Automatically add button, it takes me to an Add Ons screen with We're sorry, but we can't find what you are looking for. When I try "try these manual steps", there is no menu item called Help. In fact, there are no menu items at all. This is very frustrating. I am not tech savvy. I am 70 years old and live in Lexington, Nebraska, USA.

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
